CTA articulated bus on Lake Shore Drive

CTA articulated bus on Lake Shore Drive
Christmas Eve 2008

I was surprised to see an articulated CTA bus (or any kind of bus) on Lake Shore Drive since I had heard that trucks of any kind were not allowed on this road, so I figured buses would be included in that rule due to their size.

The curves on that road are nerve racking enough in traffic in a car, imagine driving that long a bus on it.

Below: A flat tire being changed just off Lake Shore drive near the Buckingham Fountain.
What a lousy place for a flat tire!
Yep, this was on Christmas Eve.

At least there weren't any deer involved.

Officials are investigating how freight locomotives that derailed south of Union Station rolled out of a nearby rail yard. Union Pacific could not say whether controls were properly set on the locomotives or whether anyone was on board. Evening rush-hour delays are expected on Metra's Southwest trains.
