Officials are investigating how freight locomotives that derailed south of Union Station -- forcing delays and cancellations of Metra's SouthWest trains -- rolled out of a nearby rail yard when they weren't supposed to.


Officials are investigating how freight locomotives that derailed south of Union Station rolled out of a nearby rail yard. Union Pacific could not say whether controls were properly set on the locomotives or whether anyone was on board. Evening rush-hour delays are expected on Metra's Southwest trains.
